One of my parents’ favorite commercial of the moment is from DirectTV. This television service company has their share of comical advertisements, but this particular one involves a 19th-century family that refuses to embrace modern conveniences because they are “settlers.” Since the discovery of this commercial, every time my parents come to visit us in Florida, they joke their only explanation for not moving to a warmer climate is that they too are “settlers.”
We are all guilty of settling for less than we desire and deserve— whether it’s living in a place that we hate, working a job that’s not fulfilling, suffering through a toxic relationship, or giving up on a dream.
There’s a difference between dreaming big and believing you are capable of big things. Understand that you always have the power to make changes in your life, for the better. Strive for excellence, and never settle for less than the best.
