Last August, I was out in California with my husband on a business trip when Hurricane Irene struck the back home on east coast. The storm caused our flight to be cancelled (along with many others), and the next flight we were able to book was a whole week after the date we were originally scheduled to leave. That extra week away offered me some rare down time, and I spent most of it with my mind immersed in Panem as I plowed through The Hunger Games series.
With the release of the first Hunger Games film this past Friday came many blog posts in the wedding community with ideas on how to take styles and ideas from the story to use for your wedding day. The wheels in my head began to spin as I imagined what it would be like to design a wedding invitation based on the Hunger Games, with Katniss and Peeta as my clients (can you tell I’m on Team Peeta?). I created the invitation design below with a soft, subdued color palette to reflect their home (District 12). I wanted to create a look that was somewhat muted to reflect the simplicity of their lifestyle and to also use organic elements to represent Katniss’s love of nature.
Do you think Katniss and Peeta would approve? : )
