Holiday Place Cards Printable

Christmas· Free Printables· Holiday

Once again, Christmas has crept up too soon. Monday, I’ll be at my parent’s house for our grand Italian family Christmas Eve celebration, scooting back and forth between my parent’s and my in-law’s, for Christmas morning and then spending Christmas Day with my hubby’s family at his aunt’s. All in all, we end up eating quite a few meals over those two days— as you can imagine! Though the meals are grandiose, they are informal, as our families are so large that it would be impossible to fit everybody at one table. Rather than assigned seating, it’s typical for us to eat our Christmas meals with a plate in your lap, while sitting on a couch, or wherever you can squeeze in!

I know that not every family is as large as mine and it’s common for Christmas celebrations to take place around a nicely set table. For those who are looking for a little something extra to add to their place settings this year, here are some printable place cards for you to display. As for me— I may just bring one of these with me to Christmas dinner to save my place on the couch!

Here is everything you will need for your place cards:

  • Printable template
  • Heavy Paper Stock (suggested) or regular printer paper
  • Scissors or a ruler, craft knife and cutting mat (recommended)
  • That’s it!

December DIY Printable - Materials

Start by printing out the downloaded PDF. Set your printer to print as many copies as you need (there are two cards per sheet).

Start by scoring the the crease of the card, so it will fold easily and cleanly. There are guide lines printed on the page to help you. The easiest way to score is to lay down a ruler, lining up with the guide lines. Hold the ruler in place firmly with one hand. With your dominant hand, run an exacto knife with the blade face up (so the dull side is touching the paper) along the edge of the ruler. This can also be done with a blade of a scissor, but be very careful not to cut yourself! Apply slight pressure as you run the blade. The goal is to make an indentation and not to cut through the paper.

Next, make your first cut. I suggest cutting the center first. If you leave it to do last, the perimeter will be cut out and you will have lost your guide lines.

You will end up with two flat place cards!

Since you already scored the paper, they should fold easily into a tented place card.

Last step is to write names on the place cards and set them on the table!

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!
