The perfect addition to your bulletin board, planner or journal. This free printable April 2018 calendar card will inspire you to create your best month ever.
One of the things I love most about April is the green. I just got back from a trip to New York, where everything was gray. The trees were bare, there was snow blanketing the grass, and there were no flowers in sight. As we drove down the parkway, I leaned over to my husband and asked in all seriousness, “Do leaves ever grow on those trees?”.
If you knew us, this question would sound even more ridiculous, because we both grew up in New York. Of course, I knew that those trees grew leaves. But even with my fond memories of lying the grass in the summer, looking up at the leaves on the big oak trees in my backyard, I was having a hard time believing that the barren branches we were whizzing by had the potential to blossom anytime soon.
RECOGNIZING THE INNER SKEPTIC
Even with a lifetime of evidence that spring will show up, I was still questioning it. And this is what makes trust so tough. It’s hard to imagine what you can’t yet see. And it’s even tougher to trust that something that has never ever happened before, could possibly come to be.
I find this to be especially difficult every time I’m about to do something new in my business. That voice that says, “You’ve never done this before, there’s no evidence that suggests this will turn out well, therefore you probably shouldn’t do it,” has blockaded me more times than I’d like to admit.
HOW CAN YOU TRUST WHAT YOU CAN’T SEE?
I’ve learned that there’s only one way to fight this skepticism. Faith. Blind faith.
Jump before you’re ready and figure it out on the way down. Or up— because what I’ve found is, when I’ve made those scary leaps, I don’t just survive. I soar.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BELIEVE IN?
Is there any area in your life where you’re feeling an incredible amount of doubt? Is that lack of trust weighing you down and preventing you from rising?
- Identify the problem area. Write it down. Own it.
- Write down all of the reasons you’re doubting. What are you scared of? What is the absolute worst thing that could happen if you decided to go after what you really wanted?
- List all the ways that your life would improve by trusting, and moving forward. Re-read those benefits daily. Hang them on your fridge. Frame them. Do everything you can to remind yourself that what you’re pursuing is worth it.
TRUST AND WHAT FOR WHAT IS STILL UNSEEN
Believe that what you want will come to be. And keep moving toward that goal. This month’s free calendar card download will remind you of just that. Keep it handy, to remind yourself to keep going after the things that will improve your life— and the lives of your friends and family.
Hang it on your refrigerator, place it on your desk, keep one in your car— print a copy for a friend, and keep one another in check!
Just like I know that those leaves will blossom, I believe that no matter how ridiculous it might sound, you can attain whatever it is you’re wishing for most.
