I believe in a lot of things, but luck is not one of them. In my mind, luck is something that we hide behind when we think we aren’t capable. Tell me if you’ve ever muttered these words:
- She’s so lucky. I wish I could look like that.
- They are so lucky. I wish we could travel as much as they do.
- Lucky. I wish I had a million dollars.
- You’re so lucky. I wish I had the time to read as much as you do.
These are just four from a long list of thoughts that I’ve had, on more than one occasion— so I’ve decided to start putting a new spin on them. Whenever one of these thoughts pop into my head, I remind myself that said individuals do not have magical powers. In actuality, they are regular people who have chosen to make _____ happen and that I am equipped to do the same if I really want it bad enough.
Retracting my first sentence— believe in luck, but believe in making it for yourself. Happy week, everyone!
